In honor of our late great Trail Guy, Malcolm MacGregor, join Chief of Staff Rachel Bruce for a hike on the newly-named Malcom’s Loop at Davis-Douglas Farm.
Formerly known simply as the Red Loop, Wildlands recently renamed this 2.2-mile trail that connects to our headquarters, a place where Malcolm spent many of his days making maps and planning hikes. The Trail Guy regularly led “Hike with Malcolm” programs for Wildlands Trust on Sunday mornings from 2016 - 2024, often with Rachel or another experienced hike leader to help keep the group together - Malcolm was known for hiking fast and far, and even into his 80’s could be hard to keep up with. He led us on adventures throughout Plymouth, often forgoing the trail and blazing a new way forward. He famously took a wrong turn on this very trail at OkTRAILberfest 2018, but all hikers made it back in one piece.
Join us in honoring our friend, remembering the many times together on the trail, and embracing our hiking community.
The hike will begin and end at the Community Conservation Barn at Davis-Douglas Farm. Bathrooms and water will be available, and light refreshments will be served at the end.
“Last Day Hike”, Dec. 31, 2023, unknowingly Rachel’s last Hike with Malcolm.
