Join amateur astronomer Jim Kundzicz for astronomy night at Davis-Douglas Farm in Plymouth! The Wildlands' headquarters is one of the best spots in town for big sky views - come and see for yourself!
Begin indoors to learn about the night sky and how it changes throughout the year based on Earth's movement. Then head outside to get started with the night sky viewing. On this night, Jupiter reaches opposition — its brightest and closest appearance of the year! Rising at sunset and setting at sunrise, the giant planet will shine all night long. With just a pair of binoculars, you can spot its four Galilean moons lined up beside it. Jim will bring his high-powered binoculars, and Wildlands will provide a few binoculars for people to share, but you are welcome to bring your own as well.
Please dress warmly! Gloves, hats, and even blankets are recommended. The barn will remain open throughout the night for a place to warm up. In the event of a postponement, the rain date is Sunday, January 11, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Registration closes on Friday, January 9 at 12 PM. Want to sign up after registration closes? Please email: events@wildlandstrust.org
