The Sights and Sounds of Wetlands and Wildlife

Have you ever wondered what was making all of those sounds near your neighborhood wetland or pond? Join Carlos T. B. Fragata as he presents "The Sights and Sounds of Wetlands and Wildlife.” Learn about the animals that frequent wetlands and ponds, what they are, the sounds they make, and how they grow and live together. After the presentation, attendees are encouraged to meet us at Little Long Pond to try pond scooping and explore pond critters from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Registration is required for this free event.

Instructor Bio: Carlos T. B. Fragata recently retired from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection as an Environmental Analyst. He is a leader for Middleboro 4-H and a local environmentalist from Southeastern Massachusetts.

Parking:

Meet at Wildlands Trust’s Conservation Barn at Davis-Douglas Farm, 675 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360.

Parking is available along the gravel road. Then walk up the gravel walkway to meet us outside the barn. We will then walk to the Community Garden together.

From Route 3: Take Exit 7 (old Exit 3) and head southwest on Clark Road. Turn left at the intersection onto Long Pond Road. Turn sharp right into Wildlands Trust’s headquarters at Davis-Douglas Farm.

What to Bring:

  • Outside food or drinks to enjoy are welcome!

  • Appropriate clothes for being indoors and outdoors

  • Optional: Wear waterproof shoes if you plan on pond scooping!

  • Optional: Bring your own clean net to scoop.

What to Expect:

  • Family-friendly fun!

  • An hour-long presentation from a professional in their field

  • A 30 minute question-and-answer session to follow

  • Encouraged: Drive 5 minutes to meet us down the street at Little Long Pond to try pond scooping and critter identification from 12:00 - 1:00 PM!

Restrictions:

  • All ages are welcome!

  • Limit 40 participants
