Afternoon Hike at Indian Head River Trail

Join Wildlands Trust for this 4-mile hike along the Indian Head River Trail (IHRT). You will be guided by Programming Coordinator Amy and volunteer hike leader Julia. Let’s sneak in a midweek afternoon hike as we focus on building strength and endurance!

Parking:

Meet at Luddam's Ford Park (Hanover side), next to 243 Elm St, Hanover, MA 02339. Parking is available on-site. Overflow parking is available on the Pembroke side.

From Route 3: Take Exit 27 (old Exit 12). Merge onto Route 139 West toward Hanover. In 2.1 miles, turn right onto Washington Street. Continue onto MA-139 W/MA-53 N/Columbia Rd. Turn left onto Broadway. Turn left onto Elm Street.

Drive approx. 0.7 miles to Luddam’s Ford Park (Hanover) on right (before the bridge). The preserve entrance is visible from the parking lot.

What to Wear & Bring:

  • Sturdy, closed-toed shoes

  • Weather-appropriate clothing for outdoor activities

  • Water

  • Snack

  • Bug spray

What to Expect:

  • Hiking 4 miles slightly faster than a mile per half-hour pace

  • Traversing rooted and occasionally steep terrain

  • Short sections of the trail are hiking along the side of the street

  • Wildlands Trust staff and volunteers to guide you!

Restrictions:

  • Ages 15+

  • No pets

  • Maximum 15 hikers

  • Minimum 10 hikers

Cancellations and postponements due to weather will be announced online and registered attendees will be notified via email.
