Conservation Partnerships
Collaborative efforts are key to successful conservation as we race against time with limited resources to preserve as much significant remaining Open Space as possible in Southeastern Massachusetts. The Wildlands Trust currently partners with several organizations on the following initiatives:
Taunton River Watershed Campaign:
The Taunton River Watershed Campaign (TRWC) is the combined effort of ten regional, state and national organizations working together to conserve land, water and community character. Campaign partners include:
- The Environmental League of MA
- Massachusetts Audubon
- Save the Bay-Narragansett Bay
- The Wildlands Trust of SE MA
- Taunton River Watershed Alliance
- The Trustees of Reservations
- The Nature Conservancy
- The Trust for Public Land
- The Jones River Watershed Association
- SE Regional Planning & Economic Development District
The mission of the TRWC is to effectively protect critical water and land resources throughout the Taunton River watershed; link environmental groups and municipalities working to protect those natural resources; and identify environmental priorities to help ensure growth happens in a manner that supports biodiversity & water quality while preserving the character of our communities. The North and South Rivers Initiative:
Wildlands partners with the North and South Rivers Watershed Association to preserve lands important to protecting the North and South Rivers. As part of this effort, we work with landowners and municipalities including Hanover, Pembroke, Norwell, Marshfield, and Scituate.
The Plymouth Initiative:
The Wildlands Trust works closely with The Southeastern Massachusetts Office of the Nature Conservancy to protect some of the last remaining natural lands in Plymouth. As part of this effort, we also work closely with the Plymouth Community Preservation and Open Space Committees.
