Conservation Partnerships

Collaborative efforts are key to successful conservation as we race against time with limited resources to preserve as much significant remaining Open Space as possible in Southeastern Massachusetts. The Wildlands Trust currently partners with several organizations on the following initiatives:

The Taunton River Watershed Coalition (TRWC) is the combined effort of ten regional, state and national organizations working together to conserve land, water and community character. Campaign partners include:

  • The Environmental League of MA
  • Massachusetts Audubon
  • Save the Bay-Narragansett Bay
  • The Wildlands Trust of SE MA
  • Taunton River Watershed Alliance

  • The Nature Conservancy
  • The Trust for Public Land
  • The Jones River Watershed Association
  • SE Regional Planning & Economic Development District

The mission of the TRWC is to environmental groups and municipalities working to protect those natural resources; and identify environmental priorities to help ensure growth happens in a manner that supports biodiversity & water quality while preserving the character of our communities. Healthy Community Initiative (HCS)

Wildlands Trust has partnered with Jordan Hospital and over 50 other community leaders to form the Greater Plymouth Area’s Healthy Community Initiative (HCI). HCI is working to make Plymouth a community where healthy is an easy choice. Areas of focus include accessibility to nutritious food, trails, open space, recreation areas, and recognizing markets and restaurants that encourage healthy choices. Partners are looking at what local resources currently enhance health and what added services would support the wellness of area residents. Read more
